In certain environments, installing the Teams app might not be possible, not even by the team owner.

There are two ways to enable the app anyway, though an approval of a Microsoft Teams administrator will be required.

Option 1: Allow team owners to install apps by themselves

This is the option Microsoft recommends - and also on . This option is active by default.

In case your Sometimes, an administrator has disabled this option, it’s possible to turn this back on. To do this, please (as an Office 365 administrator) go to the following page in the AzureAD portal (Enterprise applications > Consent & Permissions)the option for the team owners to install apps by themselves.

The option “Group owner consent for apps accessing data” needs to be allowed. This will allow team owners to install the app.
