You’re not far from using all beneficial features of Microsoft 365 for Jira for you and your team. Activate your favorite features and get to know which Microsoft add-ins suits you best.

Our application can be easily configured. However, our app requires a Jira and Microsoft administrator to take action at some point in the setup process. Therefore, we strongly recommend involving both administrators from the start to ensure a seamless implementation of Microsoft 365 for Jira in your company and or team.

Follow the steps outlined below to ensure a seamless setup process.

Step 3: Deployment Outlook add-in

When activating the Email feature,you’ll need to install our Outlook add-in, as well.

The Outlook add-in is essential to enable Jira features within your Outlook inbox (e.g., creating issues based on emails). It can be centrally deployed for all users or on a per-user basis.

Step 3: Deployment Microsoft Teams app - Smart Connect

When activating the Teams feature, you’ll need to install our Microsoft Teams - Smart Connect app.

The Microsoft Teams app is essential to enable Jira features within Microsoft Teams (e.g., creating issues based on chats / channel conversations, create support tickets from Teams, share issues). It can be centrally deployed for all users or on a per-user basis.

Step 3: Install the customer portal

To finally being able to access your customer portal in MS Teams to raise support tickets (as mentioned above), the customer portal needs to be added.

Step 4: Approve MS 365 access

Our application, Microsoft 365 for Jira, requires specific access permissions to function correctly and unleash its full potential. Failure to do so may result in features not working as intended. If these permissions have not been granted yet, a Microsoft administrator must provide them.

Install app from Atlassian Marketplace

Marketplace installation

On the Atlassian Marketplace → Search for “Microsoft 365 for Jira” → Click on “Try for free”.

Alternatively, go via “Manage apps” in your Jira admin settings.

2. Activate features

Feature activation

Look for “Microsoft 365 for Jira” in the sidebar and click on “Getting started”.

Activate a feature and follow steps in the upcoming screens.

Feature visibility

Activate a feature and configure its presence per Jira project, if you like. If not, toggle “active in all projects” and go ahead.

4. Email and Teams feature specifics

Our Email and Teams feature require additional settings in order to use their full potential.

Email 📧

When activating the Email feature,you’ll need to install our Outlook add-in, as well.

Why? It is the Outlook add-in that connects Jira with your Outlook and thus, enables you to use Jira features in your Outlook inbox (e.g. to create Jira issues based on your emails).

Teams 👥

When activating the Teams feature, you’ll need to install our Microsoft Teams - Smart Connect app.

Why? It is the Teams app that connects Jira with your Microsoft Teams and thus, enables you and your team to use Jira features in Microsoft Teams (e.g. to create Jira issues based on Microsoft Teams conversations and/or chats or to share Jira issues with your team in Teams to discuss them).

Manage features

Set defaults for all projects

By clicking on “enable”, the feature will be available in all of your Jira projects.

“Disable” a feature again (for all your projects), if you wish to.

Configure features
