Why Outlook add-in?
When activating the Email feature,you’ll need to install
the free Outlook add-in
to connect Jira and your Outlook inbox.
Only by installing the free Outlook add-in that connects Jira with your Outlook and thus, enables you to use Jira features in your Outlook inbox (e.g. to create Jira issues based on your emails).
Step 3: Deployment Microsoft Teams app - Smart Connect
will you be able to access Jira features from your Outlook inbox, including bringing emails into Jira and working with Jira issues in your inbox.
If you enable the email feature, but don't install the Outlook add-in (as recommended), you will still be able to access Outlook features in Jira, e.g. see related emails in your Jira issue.

the free Microsoft Teams - Smart Connect appto connect Jira and Microsoft Teams.
Why? Because it is the Only by installing the free Microsoft Teams app that connects Jira with your Microsoft Teams and thus, enables you to use - Smart Connect app you can access Jira features in Teams (e.g. to create Jira your MS Teams including sharing issues with your team or creating new issues based on Microsoft Teams conversations and/or chats or to share Jira issues with your team in Teams to discuss them).

We recommend that you approve Microsoft 365 access rights (centrally) during the setup process. Otherwise, you may need to approve access the first time one of your users interacts with any of the features. |
Microsoft 365 for Jira requires specific access permissions to function correctly properly and unleash to reach its full potential. Failure to do so may result in features not working as intended.
