We have a new version of Outlook Email for Jira! This is the documentation for the old add-in. If you are looking for info about the new one, please click click here. |
Jira for Outlook works a little bit different than most Jira addons - also because it has to run in Outlook outside of Jira.

- Instance Data
We store information about your instance. This contains the URL, Jira Version, installed Jira for Outlook addon version and license data.
These data are sent to our server during the initial registration. They are send via the browser of the user - Jira does not need to be connected to the internet. - User Data
When installing the addin, we get name and email address of each user. This is used for educational emails as well as distributing updates. - Configuration Data
All settings you make in the Admin area like default settings or template settings are stored on our servers so we can distribute them to the Outlook clients. - Transactional data
To identify related Jira issues across devices, we save mappings of email IDs and Jira issue keys. This looks like the following
...
- Error reports: Our app supports optional error reports that help us to improve the application. If you have this active, we try to strip away your business data. But it'S the nature of an error that we don't know them exactly and we may send sensitive data as part of the error report
- Attachments when using the modern Office 365 app and Jira Cloud: Due to technical limitations we have to route attachments via our servers when using the modern app in combination with Jira Cloud. We do not store them but you should be aware that they cross our servers.
Are there third-parties that work with the data?
We work with two third-parties:
- Our infrastructure is hosted on AWS. While they do not process the data, they may have access to it.
- Our Mails are send via Mailchimp
