Symtoms
Either the yasoon tab does not appear, ribbons do not update correctly or yasoon does not launch at all.
Prerequisites
This solution only works if you had a newer Outlook version installed (e.g. a test or trial version of Outlook 2013) and uninstalled it to revert to 2010. If this does not apply to you, please don't use this guide.
The Outlook uninstaller forgets to clean up some technical keys in the windows registry, which need to be removed manually.
Solution
Please open the Windows Registry Editor. This can vary depending on your Windows version. In the latest Windows 7 and 8 you can just open the start menu and search for "regedit". If this is not available, use Start -> Run and enter "regedit". (without " in both cases)
Caution You are working with the Windows registry. Invalid changes can lead to serious damage on your Office or Windows installation. Please read the instructions carefully and in case you are unsure, send your questions to our support team: contact@yasoon.de
Step 1: Check TypeLib Version
- Navigate to "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface"
- Use the shortcut Ctrl + F to search for the key {00063001-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
- Make sure you are at the following location: "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{00063001-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}"
OR
"HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Wow6432Node\Interface\{00063001-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}". - If not, press F3 to get further results.
- There you'll find a subfolder "TypeLib". Make sure the Default key is {00062FFF-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
Make sure the Version key matches your current Outlook Version.
9.4 -> means Outlook 2010 9.5 -> means Outlook 2013 9.6 -> means Outlook 2016
Step 2: Fix TypeLib Version
- Now navigate to "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib"
- Use the shortcut Ctrl + F to search for the key {00062FFF-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
- Make sure you are at the following location:
"HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{00062FFF-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}"
OR
"HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Wow6432Node\TypeLib\{00062FFF-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}". - If not, press F3 to get further results.
- Now, before you change anything, please backup the whole "folder". Right-click on the {...} folder and select "Export". Save to a location you remember, e.g. your Desktop.
- Delete the subfolders that are above your current Outlook Version. For example, if you have Outlook 2010, remove all subfolders larger than "9.4" (e.g. 9.5)
Step 3: Fix another TypeLib reference
- Use the shortcut Ctrl + F to search for the key {2DF8D04C-5BFA-101B-BDE5-00AA0044DE52}
- Make sure you are at the following location:
"HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{2DF8D04C-5BFA-101B-BDE5-00AA0044DE52}"
or
"HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Wow6432Node\TypeLib\{2DF8D04C-5BFA-101B-BDE5-00AA0044DE52}". - If not, press F3 to get further results.
The folders should match the following, depending on your current Outlook version.
Outlook 2010 2.5 Outlook 2013 2.6 & 2.7 Outlook 2016 2.7 & 2.8 - Again, please backup the whole key first, with the Export function.
- Remove all folders that are larger than your current Outlook version, e.g. 2.6 and 2.7 if you are using Outlook 2010.
Step 4: Check if issues are solved & check other places
- First, please start Outlook again and see if your issue is resolved. This should be most certainly the case. If it does not work, please contact us first, we then may instruct you to do the following.
- Check in the following place of the registry for the keys of step 2 & 3 and repeat the procedure.
- HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Wow6432Node\TypeLib
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\TypeLib
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Classes\TypeLib
If you notice any issues with Outlook of Office in general, please restore the keys from your backups.
