Mar 24, 2025

About

The Microsoft 365 for Jira file feature is designed to enhance your experience when managing files across various platforms like OneDrive and SharePoint. With the integration of the Graph API, you can easily access and manage your files stored in OneDrive and SharePoint in Jira. This means you can upload, share, and retrieve files effortlessly, all from within our platform. Key Actions You Can Take:

  • Upload files: You can drag and drop files or upload them directly from a URL.

  • Share files: Easily share files with your team members through Teams or email.

  • Access files: Retrieve files from your OneDrive or SharePoint with just a few clicks.

Understanding file links

When you share a file, it’s important to know how to access it. Each file has a unique link that allows you to retrieve it easily. You can use this link to view or download the file directly.

If you receive a link to a file shared in a Teams message, you can convert it into a format that allows you to access the file directly through our system. You can preview files before downloading them. This feature is particularly useful for quickly checking the contents of a document or image without needing to open it fully. To create a preview, you can request a preview URL for the file. Use the provided URL to view the file in an embedded format.

Of course, you can also upload files directly to Jira as ‘native’ attachments. This integration ensures that all your important documents are easily accessible within your projects.

Sharing options

Sharing files is straightforward. You can invite others to view or edit your files with just a few clicks. Depending on the sharing settings, you can allow public access or restrict it to specific users.

  • Public Sharing: Allow anyone to view the file without logging in.

  • Private Sharing: Only users with specific permissions can access the file.

Edge cases

We understand that sometimes things don’t go as planned. If a file is deleted or permissions change, we’ll keep you informed so you can manage your files effectively.
