About

The Microsoft 365 for Jira file feature is designed to enhance your experience when managing files across various platforms like OneDrive and SharePoint. With the integration of the Graph API, you can easily access and manage your files stored in OneDrive and SharePoint in Jira. This means you can upload, share, and retrieve files effortlessly, all from within our platform.

Feature at a glance

With our files integration, there are these key actions you can take:

  • Upload files: You can drag and drop files or upload them directly from a URL.

  • Share files: Easily share files with your team members through Teams or email.

  • Access files: Retrieve files from your OneDrive or SharePoint with just a few clicks.

Learn more about the individual actions below.

Upload files

To effectively address the issue at hand, it can be helpful to provide more context and information for the team to continue their work. Navigate to the files tab in your Jira issue to easily attach relevant files. This can even be done through drag and drop. By doing so, all pertinent information will be consolidated in one location, ensuring accessibility for everyone involved in the issue.

Please note: Files can only be viewed, not edited by users.

Sharing options

Our sharing options are still under construction. Updates on this feature are coming soon!

Access and work with files

When clicking on the arrow icon, the attachment will be opened directly in SharePoint. The user needs to login with their Microsoft 365 account to access the file.

An attachment is no longer needed or mistakenly uploaded? Remove it by clicking on the paperclip icon and the file will be deleted and removed from the issue.

Download the information, if required, by clicking on the download icon.

As mentioned above, sharing options of files can be selected via the three menu dots.

Understanding file links

When you share a file, it’s important to know how to access it. Each file has a unique link that allows you to retrieve it easily. You can use this link to view or download the file directly.

If you receive a link to a file shared in a Teams message, you can convert it into a format that allows you to access the file directly through our system. You can preview files before downloading them. This feature is particularly useful for quickly checking the contents of a document or image without needing to open it fully. To create a preview, you can request a preview URL for the file. Use the provided URL to view the file in an embedded format.

Of course, you can also upload files directly to Jira as ‘native’ attachments. This integration ensures that all your important documents are easily accessible within your projects.
