3.5 How to use an API Token

If your Jira Cloud has not been prepared by the Admin, the addin will ask you to login with username and API Token.

An API Token is a like a password that allows the addin to use Jira in your name.

 

Keep it secret

As it is like a password, please keep the API Token secret.

Instructions

  1. Open the following link in a new tab: https://id.atlassian.com/manage/api-tokens

  2. Press Create API Token

  3. You can now choose a label. We recommend something you relate to the Outlook Addin: e.g. Jira for Outlook

  4. Choose Create

  5. You'll now see your API Token - copy it to Clipboard

  6. Back in Outlook, use Ctrl + V on Windows or Cmd + V on Mac to insert the copied token

 

Once you close the popup with the API Token, you'll never see the API Token again. If you forgot to copy it, you'll need to delete it and create a new one.
